Chief Physician/ Staff Physician In Breast Radiology – Radiological And Nuclear Medical Department, South-Western Hospital, Esbjerg

We are searching for a chief physician or a staff doctor in breast radiology for the Mammographic section at South-western Hospital, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Department as of 1.4.2020 or by appointment.

The position is full-time, with the option of part-time. It will also be possible to have a shared position between breast radiology and another specialized radiological area of interest.

The position includes mammography, ultrasound and biopsy, where performing the diagnostic procedures will be your main function. You, together with the breast-radiologists and the other specialist physicians in the department, are responsible for the general mammographic imaging, including MRI mammography, interventions and mammography screening according to new clinical guidelines. However, if you don´t hold these listed competences, we will assist you to obtain these competences through introduction and training.

Facts about the Department:

The department consists of two areas of specialization, namely radiology and nuclear medicine. We have a total of 115 employees. The department has undergone extensive refurbishment and is now fully updated with all equipment.

The department is divided into 5 areas with specialist responsible physicians: Abdominal Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Medical/ Neuroradiology, Mammographic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

In total we make approx. 220,000 examinations a year, and we work closely with FAM (The Emergency Department), the surgical and medical specialties as well as general practice.

As part of an emergency hospital, there is a high level of activity with a high patient-flow 24 hours a day. There is considerable variation in the tasks within the radiological and nuclear medicine department. We emphasize the good cooperation and mutual respect. We are working with a patient centralized focus, and we are absorbed by the good continuity of care and well-functioning interdisciplinary teamwork.

There are good opportunities for research and development, and the department has a newly established research and innovation unit.

Facts about the Hospital:

South-western Hospital is a well-run and organized emergency hospital with high professionalism, with almost every specialty represented.

The Hospital has just relocated and moved into a new modern ward, which contains 158 single rooms. This supports a dynamic and flexible hospital that matches patients and staffs future demands and expectations.

Another significant event at the South-western Hospital is the establishment of a school in medicine, which brings the hospital into the company of only four other hospitals in Denmark, and gives the hospital a very prestigious role.

The ambition of the hospital is to create the best medical school in Denmark, with the collaboration of the University of Southern Denmark and local health operators.

Work plan and scheduling:

The department is flexible in relation to work plan and scheduling. If desired, the position may be vacant or perhaps part-time. If there is a desire to be included in the department’s general duty-doctor plan, you are included in an 8 hours duty-doctor shift.

The employment may be as a chief physician or staff doctor depending on your qualifications.

Salary and terms of employment:

Salary and terms of employment are according to the existing Danish collective agreement. We can provide help to bring practicalities in order.
